A perpetual birthday calendar to print

A perpetual birthday calendar has no year, so you use it every year. How to make one, what to put on it and a free printable version for A4 and Letter.

A perpetual birthday calendar has the days of the year but no year number. Birthdays and anniversaries fall on the same day every year, so one calendar is enough for as long as you want to keep it. It is also the easiest kind to make yourself.

What to include

A good printable perpetual calendar has:

  • One page per month, with 31 lines for the day and a name.
  • Space to mark anniversaries and milestone birthdays.
  • A clear place for relatives who have died, so the day stays a day of remembrance.
  • Large type: it usually hangs a few metres from where you stand.

Paper size

Print on A4 in Europe and on Letter in North America. A light cream paper looks warmer than white, and a small margin all round keeps the text away from the edge when you hang it up.

Free to download

You can download a free blank perpetual birthday calendar for A4 or Letter. There is no sign-up, and nothing is asked in return. It is bilingual (Dutch and English), so month names are in both.

Filling it in

Start with immediate family and add the rest as you remember. Write the day on the left and the name on the right, with a small mark for a wedding or a milestone year. A pen on a string next to the calendar helps keep it up to date.

When paper is not enough

A paper calendar is easy, but it does not tell you when something changes, and only the person with the pen can update it. If you want the whole family to keep one list, and a fresh printed version every year, a family calendar in Everjaar does that, with one price a year for the whole family.

## A small habit

A pen on a string next to the calendar is the simplest way to keep it right through the year. Whoever hears of a new date writes it in at once, and the children can help. At the end of the year you can read the whole family off the sheets in a few minutes.
