The names of the wedding anniversaries
In the Netherlands, wedding anniversaries have names. Everjaar knows these six, and counts the date from the wedding date:
- 12½ years: copper (twelve years and six months)
- 25 years: silver
- 40 years: ruby
- 50 years: golden
- 60 years: diamond
- 65 years: brilliant
More names exist (paper, cotton, wood and others); they differ by region and period, so we list only the anniversaries that are commonly celebrated.
